Who are we?

Hello and welcome to our site. Our primary goal at the Mathquarium is to provide support for math students, teachers, and professors. Right now we are living through some challenging times that require many students and teachers to work and learn from home. Many parents are also finding themselves called upon to teach and tutor their own children more than they have in the past. We recognize that people have been increasingly relying on distance education resources. As we move forward with education in these trying times, we want to be sure to help provide high quality resources to support mathematical education. So, we decided to apply our experiences to help people find success and reach their full mathematical potential.

Dr. Alison Shelton

My name is Alison Shelton and I am one of the cofounders of the Mathquarium. I have been teaching math full time in California since 2003, at a variety of levels. I hold a Doctorate of Education in Educational Psychology and 3 Masters degrees: a Master of Science in Mathematics, a Master of Science in Statistics, and a Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics.

One fun fact about me, I often go by the moniker "The Inky Mathematician". Why? Not only do I love mathematics and statistics; I also really enjoy fountain pens and other school supplies. As a result of the time I spend with this hobby, I often find myself with inky fingers.

I want to make this new website a resource that truely makes a difference. Do you have any ideas for more resources or videos? Stop by my YouTube channel, Mathquarium, and leave me a comment on one of the videos. I'd really love to hear from you.

Sincerely, Dr. Shelton
